Da Nang Enterprise Transforms: Smart Factory Index Triples Through Digital Transformation

Da Nang Enterprise Transforms: Smart Factory Index Triples Through Digital Transformation - Created date31/10/2025

Da Nang, Vietnam – Within a short period of implementation, the Smart Factory Development Support Program has helped a Central Vietnam manufacturer boost its Manufacturing Intelligence Index from 1.0 to 3.0. This success sparks new optimism for a nationwide manufacturing revolution, reaffirming that digital transformation is the inevitable path for Vietnamese enterprises to enhance their competitiveness.

A leap driven by practical improvements

Before joining the project, the factory faced multiple challenges in optimizing its operations. However, with guidance from experts under the cooperation program between the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade and Samsung Electronics Vietnam, a comprehensive transformation took place.
Practical measures were adopted — from retraining management teams, implementing QR code-based production tracking, to installing IoT (Internet of Things) devices for real-time data collection. As a result, the factory’s smart index rose dramatically to 3.0/5.0, marking a breakthrough achievement that demonstrates the program’s effectiveness.

Industry 4.0: The backbone of transformation

This success was not only achieved through process optimization but also through the deep integration of Industry 4.0 technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics are reshaping the manufacturing landscape — enabling real-time machine performance monitoring and near-instant defect detection.

In Vietnam, technology leaders such as TMA Innovation have successfully deployed AI-powered quality inspection systems using computer vision, capable of identifying product defects with near-perfect accuracy — a task that once heavily relied on human operators and was prone to errors.

At the same time, the integration of smart control systems and robotic automation has optimized production lines, increased efficiency, and minimized errors. Furthermore, IoT technology has become the backbone for data collection from in-factory sensors, allowing businesses to monitor operations and control costs effectively. Beyond manufacturing, AI is also being used for safety monitoring, detecting hazardous behaviors, and ensuring workplace security — a growing priority for many enterprises.

Policy momentum and strategic collaboration

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Jang Yoon Ho, Director of the Samsung Electronics Vietnam Partner Support Center, emphasized:

“The smart factory model is an essential step for enterprises to enhance their competitiveness. I hope these factories will become exemplary models for others to learn from and play a key role in driving nationwide digital transformation.”
